About Room Therapy

My passion for interior design dates back to junior high school when I spent hours poring over issues of House Beautiful magazine and taking the bus into New York City to see the wonderful furniture, fabrics and accessories at W.J. Sloane on Fifth Avenue. I smile when I think about my first apartment and the hodgepodge of furniture my college roommates and I collected, and how proud I was of the table and chairs I refinished for our dining room.

While I pursued another career after college and started a family, I always enjoyed working with my family and friends whenever they needed help with decorating projects. In 2002, I decided to pursue my dream to begin a decorating business. I loved the concept of One Day Decorating and knew that it would be the way for me to share my passion and help others find happiness in their homes.

The first step in the process was to polish my skills at a professional workshop taught by industry leader, Joanne Lenart-Weary. Since then I have participated in yearly events, sponsored by the One Day Decorating Alumni Association (O.D.D.A.A.), where we spend several days each August sharing with and learning from fellow redesigners, decorators and speakers from around the country. I strongly believe in keeping current on design trends and ever-changing product information by participating in seminars and conferences throughout the year at the Design Center in Washington, DC, as well as those offered by Hunter Douglas, Carole Fabrics, and Benjamin Moore Paint Company to name a few.

Now that my two children are grown and happily married, I am entering a new phase in my life... that of being a grandmother. Life doesn't get much better than this... a wonderful family and a career whose time has come.
